The connection between the two crafts, beyond their physical meeting on the wrist, is not obvious at first glance. The "Elegance Sartorial” collection is at once classically elegant, and microscopically complex. The watches are built according to typical dress standards, with round cases measuring 40 mm, and thin (2.65 link mm) manually wound movements.The most important release from Rolex this year might not even be on your radar yet. True, the larger Sea-Dweller quickly grabbed the headlines, but the announcement of a new Datejust 41 deserves at least as much attention. It is not a new watch per se, as the Datejust 41 was formally introduced last year, but it is the very first time that the case comes in stainless steel, which guarantees a more friendly price tag.That said, from an aesthetic standpoint, I won't lie and say that it's my favorite watch of the year. The choice to go nearly completely monotone washes it out quite a bit. Nothing pops, nor does the choice of glass on white with silver hands make a particularly legible watch. IWC's photos give it more dimension, but I didn't feel that in person.</br>
Omega produced countless special and limited editions over the last two and a half decades, so we're truly spoiled for choice.On top, the link basalt wafer provides an intricate pattern that gives each watch a distinct look.With black tachymeter bezels and the choice of panda or reverse panda dials, they channel the golden age of sport watches while providing a solid, modern, unmistakable Rolex-Tudor build across the board – case, pushers, bracelet, and clasp. If I put on my personal Black Bay Fifty-Eight after not wearing it for a while, I often think that it could be a more expensive watch if someone in Geneva wanted it to be. The quality feels obvious. These new watches also convey that sense.</br>
